lately i've been feeling like Prometheus, watching my guts get devoured by an eagle only to have them regrow overnight so that it can happen the next day, and the next day, and the next.

is having visions of cody, feeling like ten years ago, clomping down halls in combat boots and fishnets. Have I been dreaming, since sixteen/will I wakeup underage and awake? An unreplicated energy that pummeled chubby legs down the aisles at Borders to pick apart the photobooks I couldn't afford. Pushing fingers across paper, strings, skinny shoulders. I remember clearly the book you were clutching by the heater, hovering outside the library when I always turned the corner. Purposely reading to be bothered.

It was The Bell Jar - I never read it, now I will

Jack recently gave us a DVR, which means I now spend the majority of my weeknights going to the gym, making dinner, and then planting myself on the couch until bedtime. After a couple weeks of this I attempted to better myself by meandering aimlessly around my bookshelf, and I thought it might be fun to take a peek at each book and write about where I got it and my favorite little bits. My camera is on its last legs, flash long broken, so here's a sorry photo of my bookshelf in my bedroom

I am starting in the upper left with It Was A Dark & Silly Night which is a group of comics where all the writers were instructed to begin with the titular phrase.

This book was given to me by my college friend Chelsea, for some sort of birthday or Christmas, about 5 years ago. I think this comic is my favorite, maybe because it is by Tony Millionaire (creator of Drinky Crow), maybe because the panels aren't in order, maybe because nothing really happens and the owl is cute.

And probably my favorite line in the book:

My friend JC is in California for 10 days, and this morning emailed me a lone picture from his trip to the San Diego Zoo. It was a sign he apparently thought I would find funny.

Photobucket

It is funny indeed, but what's really funny is when you compare it to this picture I took at that same zoo in 2006.

WHAT A COINCIDENCE!!!!!!!!!! I am much more excited about this than anyone else I've made look at the pictures today was.
